Update #17 — SEO & Layout Enhancements

This issue of the Online Style Guide Release Notes introduces the addition of Schema markup to the C057 in order to better leverage search engine rankings while searching for commonly asked questions. Additionally, there have been two new enhancements to existing layouts that focus on better depicting Emerson solutions by putting more focus on featured products.
COMPONENT ENHANCEMENT
C057 – Full-Width Accordion FAQ Schema Update
FAQ Schema markup allows search engines to easily understand questions and answers. Properly marked up FAQ pages may be eligible to have a rich result on Search and Markup Action for the Google Assistant, which can help your site reach the right users and improve Google ranking for your pages. This is an optional toggle for authors. The current accordion functionality does not change by default. See the author guide for enabling FAQ schema on your C057 components.

L005B – Applied Solutions Page
This layout has been updated to better show the range of product solutions by applications and increase the amount of product information surfaced at this level. This is anchored by the C089 Featured Content with Product List. This updated layout will support related efforts for our Industry Solutions pages.

The L008 layout has been updated to put more emphasis on product-specific details by dynamically pulling content from the product catalog using the new C024 component. This gives authors the opportunity to provide richer product content linking to our applications. This allows us to better rank against our competitors in SEO.
