Update #8 – Emerson Newsroom Components & Layouts
JUNE 2, 2021
Launching later in June, the Emerson Newsroom is a new content hub that aggregates all of the latest trending news, press releases, innovation stories, executive insights, and third-party articles about Emerson into a centralized experience that showcases the breadth and depth of Emerson’s offerings and activities.
To create a more modern and engaging hub, the Newsroom incorporates a number of newly designed components to help users explore, navigate and drive deeper into specific news and resource content items of interest. In addition to the Newsroom Landing Page, the News Search Results page was designed to reimagine search result filtering and sorting, as well as become a seamless part of the Emerson Newsroom experience.
While these news layouts were designed specifically for the Newsroom and related news content, we believe you will find additional use cases for the components highlighted in these layouts.
L089 NEWSROOM SEARCH RESULTS PAGE
NEW COMPONENT
H009B Hero w/ Centered Copy and Jump Links
The H009B is an alternative option from the standard H009 hero component, which includes 3–6 in-page jump links, offering users a high-level view of the main content groups on the page and a quick, convenient way of navigating directly to them. As with the standard H009 version, the H009B should primarily be used on support- and utility-related pages, such as the Newsroom Landing Page, or on pages which require a scoped search component (i.e., SE008, SE009 search bars) to allow users to search for specific content items within the main theme or overarching content type of the page (e.g., Emerson news).
NEW COMPONENT
C082B Topic Spots with Show More/Less Toggle
The C082B is a more flexible and dynamic version of the previous C082 component, giving editors the ability to author one or more rows of topic-associated CTA buttons related to the overall theme of the page (e.g., News Topics and Categories). The display order of CTAs in the list can be manually arranged and curated by content authors as needed so that items with higher business priority are featured first.
The main differences between the original C082 and the new C082B is that the latter displays only a single row of CTA items by default and includes a “Show More/Less” toggle on desktop and tablet to expand and collapse the entire list of CTA items, while on mobile the single row is maintained and allows users to horizontally swipe or scroll through the full CTA item list.
NEW COMPONENT
C087 Trending News Grid
The C087 is a configurable content grid of curated trending news content, dynamically displaying the six most recent items returned from each business platform set in individual query lists using author-specified tags. While this was built for the newsroom, you may find additional uses for this to highlight news or other content on your platform landing page, industry pages, or other areas where a more visual display is desired.
Placement of the six individual content items within the grid is dependent on selections configured by the author in the local settings of the component collection. While this was designed to highlight content from each of the platforms for the newsroom, the selection of content is driven by CoreMedia tags and can be completely defined by the author (brand, industry, product category, etc.) to meet your needs.
NEW COMPONENT
C088 Flexible Full-Bleed Card Carousel Loop
The C088 component features up to 30 interactive news content cards in a responsive carousel, displaying across the full edge-to-edge width of the user’s device viewport. Individual C088 carousels are distinguished by content type and associated items are configured by author-designated tags in CoreMedia utilizing query lists to populate the individual carousel cards. While the C088 was designed specifically for Newsroom content, this component has the flexibility to be suitable for showcasing many content use cases. Although the CTAs in the title line were originally designed to send the user to a filtered newsroom search results page, they can also be configured to go to other pages or access other content.
