Update #3 – Perspectives Layouts & Components: The Thought Leadership Issue

Emerson’s strategy to promote thought leadership from its engineering executives required a new set of design components that could properly showcase not only the story, but the people behind the story and related articles that would inspire customers to further explore Emerson’s causes and our solutions.
To bring these stories to life, the following layouts were designed and made available to Emerson’s Editorial and PR teams. While these layouts were designed specifically for the Perspectives content, we believe you will find additional use cases for the components highlighted in these layouts.
Page and component updates for Perspectives and Thought Leadership content also includes updates for Case Study article pages. This results in the new L026B layout and some new components listed below. This gives another way to showcase articles when you wish to highlight the author. The new components also add to the library of “left rail” options that can be used in any existing case study layout.
NEW COMPONENT
C007B Compelling Story – Content-width with Optional Group Heading
A content-width alternative to the full-screen C007 version. Includes a background image and copy to feature articles, case studies or stories in the Perspectives, Expertise, Innovation, and Industry sections of the site. See the style guide and author guide to understand the difference in this variation and how it can be used on Emerson.com sites.
NEW COMPONENT
C080 Flexible Card Grid
A versatile component that can be used to group 2, 3 or 4 pieces of teaser content in a row, with up to 8 max teaser items within 2 rows. Ideal to preview editorial content like Innovation or Perspectives stories. This component uses an updated set of indicators for content type which will be retrofitted, where appropriate, to existing components currently used today. You will automatically see these changes over time and will not require authors to update existing content.
NEW COMPONENT
C082 Topic Spots
A dynamic navigation component for directing users to a Perspectives topic landing page. This can also be used elsewhere on Emerson.com sites. As this component can utilize any teasable content, you could include search teasers to highlight content by brand, industry or other tagged attributes.
Additionally, there is a C082B variant that is also available. This variant saves space by only showing the first row of tiles and uses a “show more” CTA under the first row to reveal additional row(s) of tiles.

C083 Latest Insights Thematic Lockup
2-column content lockup featuring three editorial teasers and two related callouts with supporting images. Most often used to supplement a featured topic in the Perspectives section of the website. Combining two existing component concepts into an integrated component with rich visual impact that can be used when you have a number of CTAs you wish to highlight in a richer way.

H008B Case Study Hero with Byline Content
Use to feature a case study or stylized article, this Hero includes a mini-descriptor (such as “Digital Transformation”), a headline and a subhead. This version of the H008 allows you to add an author byline and link to the “expert modal” or to a page highlighting the author.

C081 Sidebar Related Content List
A supplemental component for use specifically with L026 and L026B case study layouts to highlight related content. This component extends the library of options for the left rail content of a case study. We will highlight all of those components in an upcoming newsletter.
