Update #2 – Events Layouts & Components: Make Your Events Shine
MARCH 1, 2021
With this issue of Online Style Guide Release Notes we will focus on highlighting new and enhanced designs for Events landing pages. We have defined layouts for event promotion along with new components to highlight schedules, locations, speakers and other information about the event. The following links show you the events layouts you should follow as a guide to building your pages. While these components were designed with the specific use case for events in mind, we hope you find these rich enough to use in other cases throughout the Emerson.com sites.
NEW FUNCTIONALITY
Add to Calendar CTA Plugin
A third-party plugin integration is now available for authoring within CoreMedia components to enable Add to Calendar functionality for Emerson events content or anywhere you need to add a calendar. This is done with an HTML snippet and embedded in the rich text editor (Teaser Text) in Studio. You can see an example in the regression pages for the C045B-C046B components.
NEW COMPONENT
C045B/C046B Big Features (Left/Right) Top-Aligned with Multi-Column Text
Alternative versions of the C045 and C46 Big Feature Left Top-Aligned components that offer additional copy layout options for variable content requirements. This is intended to allow highlighting where and when an event is occurring along with introduction or overview of the event.
As shown above you can embed calendar functionality and also embed code for mapping on a mobile device. See the regression example for more details.
NEW COMPONENT
C084 Featured Expert Details Modal
Several components have been added to take advantage of a “speaker or expert” modal card. Use this component with C085, C086 and H008B components to provide additional content related to speakers featured in upcoming physical or digital events, as part of an event-page layout. An alternate version of the H008 case study hero allows you to use the speaker modal to highlight an article author profile. Many of the items shown on the card below are optional. Review the author instructions for all of the options.
NEW COMPONENT
C085 Event Schedule
A component for featuring multiple time-block associated sessions and activities offered within a larger owned- or attended-event schedule framework. While a bit complex to author, this component gives a rich format to detail everything you need to highlight the date, time, location, speakers, etc. for each session at your event across multiple days as needed.
NEW COMPONENT
C086 Featured Expert Carousel
Use this component to highlight featured speakers for upcoming physical or digital events, as part of an event-page layout or as a teaser snippet elsewhere on the site to highlight other experts such as thought leadership authors. This component uses the C084 featured expert details modal card noted above. This component could also be used to highlight executives or industry experts in other areas of the site.
NEW COMPONENT
H002B Hero with Jump Links
An alternative version to the H002 Hero component with configurable body copy and in-page jump links. This incorporates the idea of the green jump link bar directly into the hero and allows you to jump to as many as four different locations on the page using the same functionality you are already familiar with using the green jump navigation bar.
COMPONENT ENHANCEMENT
VN009 Featured Visual Navigation — Media Contact Tiles
An updated version of the VN009 Navigation Tiles used to feature the contact details for individuals involved with a specific event or media campaign. This variation allows for hyperlinks within the component which is traditionally not an option for the standard visual navigation usage. The primary use case is to allow phone and email hyperlinks, but you have full control of the rich text editor functionality in this enhanced update of the VN009.
COMPONENT ENHANCEMENT — COMING SOON
VN020 Resource Dropdowns
Initially designed as a navigational widget which in its original version required authors to create two editable dropdown menus for the component to work, the VN020 now allows authors the flexibility to configure either one or two dropdown lists as needed. This component can be leveraged to provide a single dropdown listing links to archived pages for previous occurrences of a specified Event, such as OTC 2018.
