Update #13 – New Multi-Column Comparison & Read More Enhancements
APRIL 12, 2022
This issue of the Online Style Guide Release Notes introduces a new component now available for creating rich content product comparisons, as well as several enhancements to existing components to enable more robust content and boost Emerson’s competitive presence in the SEO space.
NEW COMPONENT
C020 – Multi-Column Comparison
The new Muti-column Comparison component is used for showcasing 2 to 4 products in engaging and highly customizable ways. Please note that this is a purely CoreMedia authored component and does not pull any content from the catalog. This allows significant marketing flexibility in execution of the content for a variety of purposes. While this component was designed for product comparisons, it could easily be repurposed for other use cases where you wish to highlight two to four topics in a more detailed manner than available with a visual navigation tile.
This component features optional column header product image or video media, and leverages the CoreMedia Rich Text Editor allowing content authors to highlight key product features, specs & benefits. Authors can optionally configure each column body to incorporate other RTE content as required, including HTML fragment embeds for Pricing/Where-to-Buy widgets, in-line hyperlinks, bulleted & numbered lists and supporting image and/or video content.
Each column allows authors to configure up to 4 optional CTAs (2 Button, 2 Text) for linking to associated product marketing or product details pages as needed.
COMPONENT ENHANCEMENTS
Read More Functionality
You asked, we listened. If you’ve ever needed to author longer-form content to a component, but ran into character limitations or worried about pushing other content too far below the fold, we have a solution.
The Read More Toggle is a new, optional configuration allowing editors to author more robust content to included components. This feature will truncate the associated body text to 3 lines on page load and display a “Read More” toggle users can click to expand and read the hidden text. The current design only allows for a “read more” toggle to expand and does not allow for a “read less” to collapse.
This enhancement is currently available for C031 and the Promo components (P001 – P007), and will be rolling out to additional components in the future. If there are specific components where you would like to see this functionality, please work with your digital business representative to prioritize a request to Content Governance.
