The Global Header Navigation consists of many elements to enable a site visitor to browse, search and explore Emerson.com. The G001 ID specifically refers to the grouping of both the G002 Main Navigation with the G004 Utility Navigation and the content they each display.
**Note: The G001 does not include the navigation content revealed on hover or click. Please reference components G012, G013, G014 and G015 for menu options.
The Global Navigation is the persistent backbone of the Emerson.com website. It should feature links to all of the main sections of the site. Starting from the top, the thin black bar is known as the “Utility Navigation.” This section of the header is meant to feature important Emerson corporate links and the site’s Country/Language selector.
Then next area below features the “Main Navigation”. This section allows visitors to select the logo to return to the home page at all times. Additional links include “Automation Solutions” and “Commercial Residential Solutions.” These two sections allow a user to select them as hyperlinks or hover on them to expose a submenu structure with drop-downs, also known as “fly-out menus”. In the updated design, the Main Nav also includes the MyEmerson sign-in which has moved from the Utility Nav and is now located between the Search and Cart icons.
On scroll of the webpage, the Global Navigation shrinks the “Main Navigation” and hides the “Utility Navigation” from view. This approach reduces the amount of real estate taken by the navigation while it remains “sticky” or “pinned” to the top of the visitor’s browser window.
**Note: Content authors must use a combination of global navigation components G002 (with G003 or G003B as a subset) and G004 to create the G001. Please refer to content authoring pages in CoreMedia for more information.
Main navigation links either navigate to internal pages or on hover expose dropdown menus.
